lip question

Hi Renee i have a blue healer he's almost 2 and 2 days ago i noticed that at the corner of his right lip its red on the top and bottom its almost as if someone took a razor and shaved off the black on his lips in just that area he doesn't seem to be in any pain but its bothers me to even look at, im worried something may be wrong or is it just me? is it normal for this to happen or should i bring him to the vet? i thought i would come to you first as vets are very costly. Thank you very much for your time.

I am going to assume that your dog may be a chewer. When they chew extensively on something, it can cause some irritation and possibly some inflammation, which may be his case. I don't feel it is something you should be worried about at this point, but I would just keep an eye on it and if it gets worse, then take him to the vet.
