Question
I have a Brindle male boxer (1.5 yrs old) that has been fixed but I have a issue when I put him in is create.  He goes #2 all the time whether it is 4 hours or 4 minutes.  I take him outside right before and he goes then when I put him in his creat he goes again.  I have another fawn boxer (1 yr old) that is just an angel when we leave.  I have tried to leave him out of the create and he ate my couch and trashed my house.  I have to give him pet calm but that is not helping anymore.  Please help.  It is not only ruining my downstairs but his paws too.  He is kinda I guess you would call it ADD, but in a dog.  He is not afraid of anything and I have tried just about everything to correct him when he is having accidents in the house.  It is only sometimes.  Please help.

Answer
Dear Nicolle,
Thanks for the question. I have a feeling that the problems you describe may be related to anxiety. Only because you mention pet calm.

Why do you give him pet calm, when do you give him pet calm, what is pet calm, and was it ever effective?

Correcting our dogs for accidents is a poor way to teach dogs about house training. In most instances, they only learn to avoid us and not to choose the correct location. Visit http://www.howsbentley.com/library for free house training instructions.

You may be able to teach your dog to like his crate. Visit http://www.ddfl.org/tips.htm#dog

I'm not sure what to say about your dog defecating in his crate. I need more information. Does he defecate in his crate when you are home?...What brand does he eat?.. how much does he eat?....how often does he eat?... what is the consistency of his stools when he goes outside?... inside the crate?... How often does he defecate?.... does he salivate (drool) when in his crate?.....does he whine and bark when crated?.... If so, does he whine and bark when he is crated while you are home or only when you leave?......how much exercise does he get?... what type of exercise?.... does he know any obedience commands?.... which ones?..... will he perform them with distractions all around?....

I am trying to determine if he is experiencing anxiety and perhaps defecating is a side effect. Please visit the web sites, answer the questions and I'll offer some suggestions. Thank you.

Happy Training!
