Riding in vehicles

Question
I have a German Shepherd Dog and she does not ride well in vehicles.  She cries and whines and sounds in distress while we are riding and it is very grating on the nerves.  Any suggestions as to how I can help her?

Answer
Nancy,
first of all walk her for a good long time, about an hour, put a back pack on her to make the walk harder.  When she is tired put her in the car drive about 100 feet stop and feed her a small bowl of food in the car.   Do this each day until you see it doesn't bother her anymore.  Then increase the distance by another 100 feet.  This will be long slow process.
Another would be getting a tranquilizer from the vet and giving it to her for long trips.
