Question
QUESTION: Hi--I have a 9 month old Havanese--she is potty trained--I have trained her to ring the bell when she needs to go potty. Yesterday(sunday) and today(Mon)-she peed right in front of me(twice in L.R. and once in bedroom)..she is not ringing her bell. I had her in daycare for 12hrs on Saturday. Could she have picked up something--maybe UTI--she is a little off today--her paws are hot. Could she have picked up bad habits from the other dogs at daycare that are not potty trained--I have taken her there many times before--this is a first. She has been eating and drinking--I have her on all natural diet for 2 weeks now--turkey, vegs, eggs all mixed together. She has al her shots So appreciate your advice--please email me--thanks, Cyndi

ANSWER: Wouldn't hurt to have her checked by her Vet.
Do you know how to take her temp, and how to read a fever?
I am not sude what her temp should be, but the hot paws might mean a little temperature from an infection.
She could have a bladder or kidney infection.
She may be peeing in front of you to let you know someything is wrong, or because she cn' control it.
she wouldn't pick up bad habits in one day.
She could be doing it for spite because she was left all day.
Better to have her checked, just to make sure it isn't a health issue.

QUESTION: Thanks, I took her to the vet--they took x-rays--no stones and blood levels are great. They think it is UTI and prescribed antibiotics. Dr thinks it could be change in PH level of urine for the frequent urination and possibly the change in her diet has effected her urination. I thought I was doing good by giving her a balanced all natural diet of meat, vegs mixture.  I am going back to natural kibble (no addtives). I was feeding her Merrick and I am considering Lifes abundance all natural kibble. so what do you think about all this?? I hops I dont have a problem with her potty training--since she had already been house broken and was ringing her bell when she had to go potty.

Thanks, Cyndi

Answer
I don't think it will set her back in her potty training.
I have switched to Meunster diog food. It is dry kibble.
I am just a little leery since the recalls, and sine there was, at one time, news that they thought it MIGHT be deliberate.
Meunster is made in Meunster Texas, ansd they use NO grains that are grown outside the country, and they inspect their growers so that they KNOW what is and is not being used.
The recals were in grain that was imported from China.
There is Diamaceous Dirt in the Meunster food, and that is supposed to kill intenal parasites, and repel fleas off them.
I took my dogs off the Frontline, and they have not had any fleas. Their Frontline expired almost 2 months ago.
We sure have a crop of fleas, after all the rain we have had, but they are not bothering my babies.
