my wonderful 4 year old (? humane society adopted) female spayed lab/maybe husky breed pup follows me so closely through the house that she literally is up my butt! at times she is so close her nose is between my legs! why does she do this?

Dogs are very social.  They instinctively want to be part of a pack like wolves.  It could be in the past she was forced to spend too much time by herself or lost her people.  Now that she has somebody to be with, she is making the most of it.  She may be desperately afraid of losing you.  If you haven't had her too long, she may slowly accept more space once she realizes you aren't going to abandon her.

Thank you for adopting her.  So many dogs, and so few good homes.
