Westie with blue eyes

Question
I'm not certain you'll be able to answer, but here goes. We just received a
westie puppy that our
friends found dodging cars. We have decided that he is a westie, because,
well, he looks just like
one. Except  for two features.

He has light blue eyes and a pink nose where westies are described as having
"dark, brooding" eyes
and a very average black nose. Do you know of anything that could explain
this?

Your knowledge is appreciated.

I could help with breed identification if I had a picture and some more details on his size/shape/color/weight and age, but its hard with puppies. Most likely, you have a mixed breed puppy that just happens to look like a westie, (and certainly could be westie mixed). There are several breeds that carry blue eyes, including australian shepherds, siberian huskies, shelties (as part of the merle gene which would also have a pink nose) and other breeds. While it absolutely is possible that you have stumbled across a purebred westie puppy running around in the street, it is far more likely that you have just adopted a very cute mixed breed puppy. Also, remember to put up signs in case this cutie has a home somewhere!

Congrats on your new puppy, and I hope this helps. Send a few pictures if you would like some breed identification help. Thanks!
