Question
Hello, I adopted my dog from the Largo FL SPCA about 8 mos ago. They had no history on him. He's part Jack Russel and I don't know. He is shedding like crazy. His food is called Chicken Soup, he's brushed, bathed and lots of love and hugs. Freckles, his name, is a happy, playful dog. The SPCA Vet and my Vet think that his was about 1 yr old, that was this past Feb,07. I have been giving him 1 tsp of Safflower oil once a day...still lots of hair. I'm vacuuming once or twice a day...before I go to work and after. HELP!!

Answer
Probably the best way to go would be to get a tool called a 'de-shedder' it's a odd looking tool,if you have trouble finding just ask someone that works at the pet store for it

Something else you can try,is next time with you him when you lather him up with shampoo, brush with a 'slicker' brush three times on each side(no more your you could cause a rash)then rinse him off

And if those two don't work-the next thing you could try is to go to a groomer and tell them you have a problem with shedding, and what they usually do is bathe the dog as I mentioned above, but they have special dryers that can blow out a lot of the coat and that will make a huge difference-but will have to be done about once a month and can become costly, but if the other two don't work or are too difficult the groomer is the way to go
