humping problems

okay i just got a new 5 month old male puppy and he wont stop humping me or my fixed female cat. is there anything i can do to stop this unwanted behaivior?

May as well get him neutered now.  It is no cure all, but very important in this case.  He is old enough, and it needs to be done before long.  Besides helping with behavior problems and helping keep down unneeded litters, it reduces his chance of getting  cancer later.  Then start obedience training.

The key to most behavior problems is approaching things using the dog's natural instincts. Dogs see all the people and dogs in the household as a pack with each having their own rank in the pack and a top dog. Life is much easier if the 2 legged pack members outrank the 4 legged ones. You can learn to play the role of top dog by reading some books or going to a good obedience class. A good obedience class or book is about you being top dog, not about rewarding standard commands with a treat. When you are watching it, immediately correct it as soon as it starts. In a quiet, but firm voice give it an ''Ah, ah, ah!'', and distract it with a toy.
