foxy Our 1-1/2 yr old chihuahua got pregnant and her hair has gotten very dry and brittle and maybe even falling out. At first we thought that as she got bigger with the pups, her skin was just stretching a lot. She eats "The Good Life" dry dog food and loves it. We were thinking of changing to Alpo dry food. Are there suppliments just for hair? She lives indoors with us and has had no contact with "strangers". ed

A pregnant or nursing dog needs a richer diet, usually puppy chow. If the Good Life offers a puppy chow, try switching to it. You could also try adding a teaspoon of regular liquid cooking oil a day to her food. It is as good or better than the expensive fish oil capsules the pet stores sell.
