dog nails

Dear Cindi,
I have a 12.5 year old German Shepard. His nails are approximately 1 inch long. How much can i cut off without hurting or making him bleed.

Answer
If they're that bad, I would honestly take him to the vet or groomer to have them cut. Then keep them cut regularly from thereafter. At this point.it's going to hurt and you are likely to quick him, traumatize him or both.
