Jumping up and snatching food

Question
I have a 2 yr old Staffordshire bull terrier who I got 3 months ago. He has a bad habit of jumping up and snatching food out of our hands, is there anything you can suggest which will deter and rectify this problem as I am scared that he may do it when outside and hurt someone or they take it as an attack.
Thanks

Answer
What you can do is to go to your local petstore and ask for a product called 'bitter apple' and what it does is deters dogs from chewing as it tastes bad(but causes no harm). If you can't find that brand name you can describe what you are looking for,and they will find something similar. And now what you do is place the food where he is grabbing it,and spray it with the product, and the dog will spit it out as it will taster terrible. But after several times the dog will learn that food left out and isn't his will taste bad. So keep on doing this until he stops-I have done this on a number of dogs and it works. Now if you cannot find such a product I have also used white vinegar as well as hot sauce and that works as well
