Question
Hi I have a Shepherd Mix that weighs about 67 lbs and the vet said that was a good weight for her and not to let her get any bigger. Ok well I just changed her food from Alpo dry to Science Diet Large Adult and she has been only picking at it and I have been trying to wean her from people food all together and she is acting picky she wants the people food over her dry so what am I to do I keep her very active with walking and jogging all the time . I called my vet cause I was worried she might starve herself but she said that she will eat when she gets ready too but she still isn't eating like she should do you think I should switch her back to Alpo . Her old Owner said she liked Kibble %26 Bits Dry food should I give her that I'm so confused on what is the best can you help me out on this matter thanks.

Answer
If you feel good about the Science, likely the vet's advice will work.  The worst thing you can do is to bribe a dog with rich foods into eating more than it needs. Instead, Put down the dish with what the dog should eat, and give it 15 minutes to eat. Then take it up. Do not give it anything to eat until its next scheduled meal.

Most dogs will thrive on most foods.  Much of what you may hear about different foods is marketing hype aimed at the owner.  Any of the 3 foods you have fed likely are as good as anything.
