Biscuit, my adorable Shih Tzu Dog

Biscuit, my 2year old Shih Tzu is constantly scratching.  She has been on Temaril-P, Chlorpheniramine, Prednisone and Benadryl. Nothing works. She is still scratching. Yesterday she had a Vetalog shot, but I don't want her to have that too often.  She weighs 16 1/2 lbs. Biscuit eats Hill's Prescription Diet d/d Potato and Duck Formula. Could it be a ThyXqroid condition?

Innova EVO is wonderful But WELLNESS CORE is very much like the EVO - Grain free formula- Most Quality Pet stores do sell the Innova or the Wellness Formual ...
Call around and see if you can find Wellness.
If not, let me know and I can think of a few others...

NOT too many out on the market that are 99% grain free.

I see your problem Judy!  Vet's don't always have a clue about nutrition... the Hill's Prescription diet is ONE of your problems...

They have so much "junk fillers" in this -


Your vet has done you a disservice with this food:

( the only education, that most vets get, is from the company...)
I bet you did not even know.

Ingredients for your food....Not too great... Potato as the First and most ....The first 5 ingredients are the Most in any recipe.

************  Here are my suggestions for your baby - YOU should be able to cut out the shots in a month or less.  Also, the steroid treatments can be lowered in time. Consult your vet about the continued use of Prednisone and the adverse side effects.


I would like to see your Shih Tzu kid on Innova Evo - Grain free food. I am very sure you kid is allergic to all the grains in the foods you have used in the past.

Innova Evo can be found at most pet stores.  You will FEED less than the science diet because Innova EVO is condensed and has no junk fillers.  I would like you to give the Science Diet and Innova EvO at a 50/50 mix for 2 weeks....Then, you should be able to do 3/4 Innova and 1/4 Science Diet .... another 2 weeks.
After that, you should be able to get rid of the old food and just go to Innova evo.

Next, I would like to see your baby on 2 NuVET wafers supplements per day .  This will help with food and environmental allergies.  NuVET will help to build up her Immune System.  Also, NuVET helps to protect against hip, joint and leg problems and arthritis.
After 30 days , you can go to just 1 wafer per day.  I think your baby needs a Loading dose of the 2 per day.  Don't worry all Natural and safe for your kid.
