Question
We just adopted a 10 year old male pug.  It seems his weenie will not retract.  We were told he had a clean bill of health and has been checked for infections but he is perfectly healthy.  We are wondering if this is a common problem in older males - we have a 17 year old pug-mix but alas she is a female.

Should we just put a belly band on him while he is in the house and take it off when he goes outside?  I am afraid he is in pain although he seems happy and wags his tail when he sees us.

We wondered if this just might be one of the genetic things with pugs - like the pugs with the extra long tongues that just don't fit inside the mouth.  Could it be something like that?

This little guy is cute(although a bit skinny) and was adopted out of rescue twice before we adopted him.

thanks

Answer
I have seen this before but not often. I would not put a belly band on him as it would irritate his wee wee. Take him to your vet to be sure there is no medical issues such as an infection but if other wise healthy, I would not worry about it.

Good luck.
