taping the ears?! and other

Hi, I was just to a breeders webpage that said you must tape your pugs ears! the site owner had writen that the pug doesnt look as nice if the ears hang to the side as if they pioint forwards they look much nicer.... do all pugs have there ears taped? I mean if I do get a pug I wont be taping its ears. I doubt the unregistered breeders and occassinal breeders tape there puppies ears....have you heard of this at all? I found it quite strange no other floppy earred dog I've heard of has ever had there ears taped to face forward yet remain floppy. Just looking for a second opinion on the subject.


oh one more thing....is it ok to get a puppy from someone via an internet ad or newspaper ad? I wouldnt be able to afford the high price of a registered papered puppy from show champion parents..(I checked around and the prices for such dogs are quite high even for normal colored pugs. Thanks for any insight into the matters at hand.

The only reason you would tape your puppies ears is if you are going to show it. I tried taping the ears on one of our pugs and Brisco and I didn't like it and he is still beautiful.

Instead of going through the Internet or the newspaper, check with pug rescue in your area. You will get a purebred pug that is, if it is a reputable rescue, spayed/neutered, vaccinated and checked for heart worms for much less then a puppy would cost from a breeder and the cost of vet care after you get your puppy.

Our local rescue has an adoption fee of $400 for a puppy down to $100 for a senior pug. They are all spay/neutered, vaccinated, check and treated for heartworm, had a dental done and wormed.
