Question
QUESTION: Hello again, I was wondering if you could tell me from this.... if a pugs personaility and temperment are like a Boston terriers....I know you have No experiance with bostons but thought this would make it easy for you to tell me if there persoanilities and temperments are simaler: My boston terrier is hyper....likes to jump on people...including kids...loves people esspesilly kids(my neices)  is fairly quite but makes all sorts of grunts/grumbles/snorting and snoring sounds never heard coming from my other normal lenth muzzel dogs, she loves to be outside but hates the rain and cold....she sleeps under the covers every single night and will come stand looking over my face until she gets her kisses for the night...she will do this anytime i'm laying down and shes there....she will push her cheek  to my lips after her first kiss and stand there without moving until I tell her ok thats enough...she then kisses my nose and goes and lays down, She loves to snuggle but doesnt care to be held for long periods....doesnt mind getting bathed or her nails or trimmed and ears cleaned she is tolerant of clothing on cold days and only barks during play or if my other dogs are trying to take a toy from her...she gets along well with my dogs but is possive over toys...shes very jealus and must be the center of attention. Does the pugs temperment and persoanility resemble a Boston terriers? in which respects?  Are pugs consdiered smart dogs as well? I consider my boston terrier to be smart in a respect but not as smart as my other dogs...she was easy to housetrain and listens very well...if at first she isnt listening or paying attention all I must do is raise my voice and she will stop in her tracks...she knows "crate" means go to your crate and when I say out she will pekr her ears and run to the door she also knows how to sit when a treat is presented. And was housetraine fairly well by 5 mnoths and fully trained with accidents by 8 months. thank you again for your reply I apprecaet you taking teh time to help.

ANSWER: Tara, from your description, your Boston sounds a lot like a pug. They are very affectionate, males more then females. Pugs are born clowns, can be slow to housebreak. It is not that they can't do it, they just may choose not to do it when you want them too. Some pugs are extremely intelligent, others are slower. Our Preston Robert is what we call a college graduate while our Brisco...you have to tell him "breathe in, breathe out, breathe in...good boy". No he is not that mentally challenged but sometimes you wonder. Preston Robert answers to hand commands and is never wrong about anything. Some pugs are possessive of their toys, food or people while others could care less.

Hope I have helped you.

QUESTION: Hello again thanks for replying, I have one more question... Are pugs Dog agressive? All my dogs vary from slightly to Very dog agressive and was hoping my next dog would be less dog agressive.

Answer
Each Pug or dog is an individual but the MAJORITY pretty much just loves everybody and everything. We have had a few aggressive ones but for the most part they get along together pretty well. If you have one that is aggressive, they can spark aggression in the others. Kind of like bottle rockets...if one goes off, they all go off, even the more passive ones. And sometimes they will feed off their owners emotions.
