pug is loosing hair

2 yr old black pug is loosing hair on the neck where the collar is.  the collar is only on as we walk the dog.  any ideas.  other than that he is very healthy.

I would have him checked for Demodectic mange. Blacks seem to be more prone to this type of mange.

Also, you should never walk a pug with a collar. You could collapse his trachea. ALWAYS use a harness so that nothing is pulling on his throat.

Most likely though, it is hair loss from rubbing on his collar.
