Question
Ig you own a pug, you know they "snork" on occasion ie; they appear to hyperventilate and suck in air with a deep breathing sound for 15-30 seconds or so. What causes this?

Answer
Yes, my pug does that as well. In fact recently she's been doing it almost every night. At first this freaked me out; it looked like she was having an asthma attack and frantically trying to catch her breath. But after a little research and talking to her breeder and vet, I've found out many good possibilities. This can happen to a pug if they get too hot, excited, has their allergies aggravated, or even if they're sleeping and their soft pallet gets overworked and out of control (the soft pallet is used in their snoring). In my dog's case, I think that might be the issue since it only happens at night.

I don't necassarily think that this is a problem, unless they do it a lot. Occasionally is OK, but if it gets too out of control and happens more than once or twice a day for a while, then it might be something you should consult your veteranerian about.

Well, I hope I helped!
