Question
My 2 1/2 year old pug has been ill for the last six months. His illness always begins with his ears feeling really warm, his tail is down, he mopes around, he belches alot, sometimes he vomits continually for at least a couple of days, he sometimes has diarreha, and he refuses to eat anything. We are going on day # 4. He still drinks lots of water, though. We have been to two different vets. They have tested him for diabetes, addison's disease, a liver test, blood tests, and an upper GI. They all turned out negative. He isn't like this all the time, but at least every 2 weeks. It usually lasts for 3 or 4 days and then he is better.(he still burps alot) I am at my wit's end. I feel so bad for him. We both need to know if anyone else has ever experienced this. What do I do now?

Answer
Donna,

I'm not sure I will have much more advice for you.  I sounds like you have already had a lot of checking done.  I'm sure your vets have already tested stool samples.  That should have been the first things done.

Have you tried changing dog food?  That would be another thing that should have been tried in the beginning.

Something else you could do is look into a raw diet.  I have not done this but have friends that have.  There is a lot of info on the internet.  Basically, you feed raw meat.

Those are just basic things.  I am not into a lot of heavy medical treatments and testing - I like more of a natural approach.

You will have to decide how much of the testing you want to go through and how much you can afford.

Hope that helps.  Let me know if any of these things helps you pup.
