Question
Just recently acqyired an older girl Pug. No luck on potty training so far.......Help!

Answer
First thing, take her to the vet and make sure she does not have a urinary tract infection and is otherwise healthy.

It can be challenging house breaking an older dog of any breed. But it can be done.

Take her out side to do her business every one to two hours that you are awake. Anytime she goes outside give her tons of praise and a little treat. If you have tried this, the next step is to keep her on a leash tied to you so that you are in constant eye contact with her. When she starts sniffing or "circling the wagons" as we call it, take her outside immediately. When she does her business give her much praise and a small treat. Try to take her out to the same spot where she gone previously.

It may take quite a while for her to get the message but you must be patient.

Do NOT hit her, scold her or push her nose in accidents. It will do no good other then break her spirit.

Good luck and remember she is worth the effort.
