Question
We just had pug puppies on Halloween.  only four lived out of six in the delivery.  Now the smallest female is not eating well and becoming less active.  She is so small and cute.  What can we do??  She was fine before- what went wrong?

Answer
Polly,

That is the hardest thing about having puppies - losing some of them.  I don't want to discourage you, but we have been raising pug puppies for over 9 years and I have found that puppies that do not thrive, usually don't make it.  Even so, we still try to help them.

Unless you want to try to bottle feed her, all you can do it put her up to the mother every chance you get.  Chances are there is something wrong with her and that is why she is not thriving.  Or she could have gotten chilled after she was born.

Either thing has made her body start shutting down.  Even bottle feeding usually don't help because her body won't be able to digest the food.

Sorry for the bad news.  I have tried to save many a puppy.  Even though it usually don't work, I still try every time.  Then I know I've done everything I can do.
