neutering

Question
hi i have an 11 month old male pug.
for the past 4-6 weeks he has been lifting his leg around the house on furniture.  this is becoming more frequent and i have heard neutering is the best way to tackle this.  Is it dangerous to put pugs under anaesthetic when being neutered? Will this stop him being affectionate towards this and will it change his personality? thanks

Answer
Leanne,

Usually it is best to neuter the dog before he starts lifting his leg.  Even so, neutering is your best bet for him to stop this behavior.

Anytime any animal (even people) is put under anesthesia, there is a small risk.

The surgery should not make him less affectionate and should not change his personality.

Neutered dogs really make better pets.

Hope this helps,
