Pug Losing Hair & Hot Spots?

Hi, we rescued a Pug several months ago and all has been fine until just recently. He seems to have real irritation & itching on his rump area and below his flanks. He has been itching until raw in these spots. Otherwise is over all healthy. Great eating and drinking, active, no temps or anything.

Only 3 things have changed... *Diet-we went to dry dog food from making our own. *Seasons-now coming out of winter into spring. *Fleas- My sister in law brought her dog over who had fleas and we have since then been battling that.

We have given him baths with medicated shampoos which help him at first. I do believe this is allergies. Is there over the counter allergy meds you can give them.

Even though you are pretty sure you are dealing with allergies, I recommend having your vet do a skin scrape just to make sure.

If it is just allergies, they can give you dosage for benadryl (diphenhydramine hydrochloride).
