Question
Well my husband and i bought or we think is a toy poodle,We was wondering if he was a purbreed because he is not only so small and thin and long but his ears or one of them stands straight up,the older he gets i just not sure if all the money we put out was for a purbreed,Now we love him and no matter what we have him in our lives now, but! its disturbing to know we might have got lied too,Can this happen and do you think he may be mixed?..p.s..The lady gave us papers but we havent sent off for them yet and really dont plan to,And i forgot to tell you that his fur is curly but not like some poodles ive seen.

Answer
Some poodles have silky hair that isn't real nappy, and others have hair that is a tight curl and more springy in nature.  As to the ears, I have a teacup poodle whose ear tends to cock strangely, unlike the other one.

Without seeing him I can't tell you for sure, but if you have the papers for him, I suspect he is a purebred dog.  The thing about pure breeds is that sometimes they are OVERbred, and end up with strange anamolies.

I wish I could help you more sight unseen, but just like 2-legged kids, sometimes 4-legged ones have differing characteristics.  I have a poodle that is solidly built and almost husky, and another that is built very delicately.

Sorry I can't be more definite - but it's hard to do sight unseen.  I suspect if the dog has AKC papers he is a pure bred dog though.

Have fun with him :)
