Its called a heat cycle or estrus. A female is typically in for 3 weeks. 1 week of bleeding, one week of being suspectible to breeding, and one week to go out. These are just general estimates its different for each dog. You will have to keep close eye on her for the full time to be sure that she doesnt breed. If you are not a breeder I would recommend having her Spayed ASAP after the heat cycle is over.
