Question
QUESTION: Hi my jack russell terrier is male/neutered and 2 and a half years old he doesnt stop barking, he barks in his crate(he is situated *beside my other dogs also crated when I leave for work) he will hear a noise at night and put his head up and woof...woof woof woof he wont stop, he is outsdie and he barks at any sound and passers by he is driving me up the wall is there anything I can do to shut him up a bit?

ANSWER: you're not going to like my answer... but not really...
you can buy a bark collar, which is a collar that squirts water in his face when he barks... startling him and stops the barking. The only problem with that is, sometimes some dogs just get used to it after a while. There is another type that uses "stimulation" or like a little zap. It has different levels of "stimulation" from 1 to 7 - the first time they bark they only get a little reminder zap, and it goes up from there - it never hurts the dogs, but really sends a reminder to stop barking. They make different brands and kinds, I bet you can find one you're comfortable with, even if you only use it at night! Good luck!!!

QUESTION: Hello again the sprayer collars seem to be less avalible around me...the shock collars .....are you sure they don't hurt? I mean could I put it around my neck to see how much it zaps before putting it on my dog? or would it hurt if it hurts I see no point in putting it on my dog. I thought shocker collars Shocked the dog and turn dogs into fearful pets...whats your take on this? also if I can get a sprayer collar would my other larger dog need done as well?

Answer

The ones I am referring to DON'T shock - they vibrate. I guess "zap" was a bad choice of word to use. I don't agree with shock collars at all.  I'm not sure if your other larger dog would need one too, does he/she bark a lot too?? I guess it's trial and error. You can find all sorts of collars on eBay if you can't find one locally. Just type in BARK COLLAR and I bet you find a good selection. Good luck!
