Answer
Hello Nuala,
Honestly 7 weeks is too soon to be away from his/her mother. The EARLIEST a puppy should be taken from the mother is 8 weeks old. I don't let my pups go until 9 or 10 weeks.
I give the first bath on the day they are leaving here and it's rather traumatic, they get nervous -  so go easy and gentle and don't get water in his ears. The breeder should have bathed her/him for you before handing him over.
He'll be OK, just be careful and don't keep in the water too long and dry him well. Hair dryers get very very hot to puppies so use it very carefully. Good luck.
