Question
I feed my 8 month old jug twice a day once in the morning and once in the evening.I feed him about an averge sized handfull maby a little more each time. My problem is that he always seems like he is still hungry and always eats sticks grass leaves etc. am I not feeding him enough or is this a normal puppy thing?  My vet says he is a normal healthy size.  Thank you    Bill

Answer
Hello Bill,
If your vet says he is a normal healthy size, try not to worry.
My full grown adult dogs eat twice a day. 1/2 cup of dry food in the morning and a half a cup of dry food at dinnertime. Try using a measuring cup when you feed him because a handful may not be quite enough.
They also will eat more if they are very active and getting lots of exercise....if so, you can give a little extra food at lunchtime. If he doesn't get an abundance of exercise, the two feedings a day will be plenty. Always have fresh water available.
Puppies chew everything all the time! It IS normal for him to be chewing sticks and grass and anything else he can get his mouth on!
Give him a nice big natural rawhide to chomp on during the day and you'll probably see the stick chomping disappear, but even if he still chews on things, don't worry it is a puppy trait and he should outgrow it.
Best of luck with your little guy.
