Jack Russell Behavior & Seizures

Question
My Jack Russell Terrier has had 2 bad seizures since we got her over a year ago, but she somehow got herself out of it. Is this normal for JRT's? Also, every once in a while, she will go into this behavioral act where she is making constant mistakes on the floor (mainly urinal). My husband and I try our best to pay attention to her, but with me working days and him working second shift, it is very hard to sometimes. Are these signs (seizures & behavioral) common in Jack Russell Terriers?

Answer
Hi Victoria,

Has your veterinarian seen her? Does he/she know about the seizures? No, it's not typical Jack Russell behavior, it's not any breed's typical behavior. Are the seizures coming more frequently? Your vet could do a "work up" on her and get to the bottom of the problem. There are medications that help with seizures.
About the accidents....
It could be a number of things -
If it's constant behavior (all day) and if not much comes out she might have a bladder infection and should be checked.
If it's just a mistake, she might not be going outside enough. I would start letting her out more often and see if it gets any better. Is she drinking more than usual?
It's great that someone is with her all day - more attention never hurts, and exercise is crucial for Jacks.
If nothing changes, you should bring her to the vet for a good check up.  Good luck to all of you.
