How do I control my Jack Russel X Fox Terrier

Question
I am hoping someone can help me?
We have a 9 month old Jack Russell X Fox terrier. We had him fixed at about 6 months. He is a very lovable and playful little thing but he is also a complete menace. He rips up the other dogs beds, chews everything in sight; digs up the garden and barks non-stop. It is starting to drive me mad. We have raised a boerbul and a daushaund who are extremely well behaved and actually listen when they are spoken to. Is there anything we can do with him or is it just a waiting game until he matures?

Answer
Hello ~
By 9 months old he should be MORE THAN mature enough to listen, obey, and follow rules. Does he get PLENTY of exercise during the day? It sounds like he's trying to expel some energy and if he can't run outside, he will destroy things in the house and wherever he can, he sounds completely bored. Get him outside at least 3 times a day for an hour each time and let him RUN and play HARD!!! I bet you'll notice a change right away in the destructive behavior. With this breed, it's also advised to take him to obedience and training classes for learning and behavior control. Jacks are the smartest and he will pick it up right away!  Good luck with him!!
