Question
Hi Carol

i have about 2 years old male jack Russell and recently i was gifted a 1 & 2 month old female Parson Jack Russell, my question is can the female parson get pregnant , and what will the puppies looks like and is this type of cross considered pure breed ? where can i find more info of this type of crossing.  thanks allot.

Answer
Hello,

To answer your question, YES the female can get pregnant, but not until she goes into heat which usually doesn't happen until they are a year old.  You should NOT breed her on her first heat cycle. If you are going to breed them, you should wait until at least her 2nd heat cycle. The puppies will be mixed and will NOT be considered pure bred whatsoever.
I DO NOT recommend breeding these two different breeds.
Breeding is extremely serious, can be very very costly, both monetarily as well as personally.
Think carefully before you do this. There are more cons than pros to breeding and it should be left to the professionals.
