Question
My one-year-old Jack has broken out into major hives. At first we assumed it was an allergic reaction (we recently changed out fabric soften sheets and his bedding blanket had been dried with a new no-name sheet. We took himn to the emergency clinic last night and got him a Dex shot and antihisamines. But this morning he was worse, so off to the vet for another Dex shot.

But here's the thing. Yesterday he chewed through his blanket and got his head trapped in the fabric (we had to cut the blanketaway to free him). Could the stress of being trapped lead to the hives.

A few minutes ago he was barking at a local cat and by the time I diverted his attention, his hives flared up in a big way. Makes me think stress is the issu.

Answer
I have no idea...I've not heard of allergies that were this bad before...thou chances are the blanket caused him to get itchy if it was dryed or washed in something he is allergic to since it was caught around his neck it probaly caused the hives to begin with...barking at the cat got him hot which flared up the hives(barking/running made him get hotter) you need to follow the vets reccomendations for allergy treatment right now but you can sooth yuor dog by bathing him in Cool Not warm but Not cold water....with an anti itch dog shampoo perferbily with oatmeal and aleo and lather him well and be sure to change the water and rinse well the cool water is soothing as well is the itch relife shampoo. If his allergies are this bad perhaps you can shedual a allergy test at your vets office to determan the cause and treat it accordingly.
