Jack Russell Shaking

Question
I have a 5month old Jack Russell that I adopted from a shelter.  I have noticed that she has an occasional problem in which her lower body shakes uncontrollably.  I've noticed that her left hind leg will start to move like she is about to scratch herself, but then that stops and her entire lower body will start to shake.  Her ears will droop and she stares off into space.  She will then return to normal after the shaking stops.

Answer
Hi Leslie,
I commend your kindness for adopting this dog.
Did you get a complete history on the dog? Do you know his background? 5 months is young. I hope he wasn't abused and brain damaged. Without seeing him, it sounds like seizures...which can have many many causes including abuse and unfortunately sometimes a breed trait if not bred consciously. Definitely bring it up to your veterninarian; there are some medications and other options that may be available to you.
My very best to both of you! Good luck.
