Biting and Attacking

Question
I have a jack russell and she is 4 years old. She has always been an active, playful loving dog until recently. She was always protective but not mean towards me. She will attack and bite, and I mean where she sinks her teeth in and doesn't let go. She even attacked my face tonight for the first time. I don't want to get rid of her because I have had her since she was 6 weeks, but I can't handle this attacking. Its almost as if she was bipolar. One minute she's fine and the next she's not. Please help, I don't know what to do.

Answer
Danielle,

The change in her behavior is alarming - the first thing you need to do is take her to the veterinarian for a check up. She may be in pain and can't tell you; Has anything at all changed in your house? Did you move? Have a baby? New boyfriend? New dog? New schedule? All of these things all cause upset in a dogs life and she could be acting out. I would find a professional dog trainer to address it right away before it gets any worse. Sorry this is happening to you.
Very best of luck.
