droopy ear

Question
We have a female Jack Russell mix that is 4 months old.  She has been with us since she was 9 weeks.  Over the weekend I noticed that one of her ears is drooping more than the other one.  It hasn't been like this before.  she has the "typical" JRT ear flaps and until just recently both ears were identical.  I'm concerned that she might have somehow injuried her ear.  We've had her to the vet so much (regular shot visits, stung by a bee, coughing excessively, ear infection and skin allergies...) that I hate to take her again with such a crazy question. Any ideas?  Thanks for your input.

Answer
Hi Michelle,
oh no, I'm sorry about the allergies, that's hard to live with. Hopefully your breeder disclosed this before you bought her.
It's hard to say about the ear drooping without actually seeing it. Do you want to send me a picture? If she doesn't seem in pain then she's probably OK and her ears have just grown differently. They might even change again. They aren't completely full grown until a year old and I've seen many an ear go from an UPPY to a DOWNY or visa versa! Some ears actually fold in half. If it doesn't hurt or doesn't smell, she's probably fine. I'd be happy to take a look at it if you want to send me a picture... CAROLF1209@YAHOO.COM
Don't worry about crazy questions for the vet, she's your baby and you have a right to ask anything you want. Of course, they'll probably charge you an office visit if you have to go in, which is no fun!
Take care, good luck.
