Agressive Jack Russell

Question
We have a 1.5 year old female jack russell named Daisy.  She has not been fixed yet.  We got her about 1 year ago.  We already had a terrier mix female, Susie, who is 6 years old and is fixed and a blue healer/australian shepard male 2 years old who is not fixed.  Daisy has always been full of energy and not afraid of anything.  Lately she has been very aggressive to our other female dog.  The older dog cannot make a move without Daisy being right there by her or on her.  She will sometimes stand and put her front paws on the older dog.  Or if she is not doing that she has to be right by her.  Susie trys to walk away and go somewhere else and does not get agressive with daisy with the exception of growling. Daisy does not like either one of the dogs getting attention.  But in the last 2 weeks she has attacked the older female twice.  The first time that it happened my husband accidently bumped the older dog and she whimpered, then daisy jumped on her back and dug in with her teeth and would not let go.  The second time was yesterday and we were all playing and out of nowhere daisy got susie by the back again. The third time was this morning.  Susie and Daisy were both outside alone then I came out with the male dog.  All of sudden daisy got ahold of susie's back again and would not let go.  Everything was calm up to that point.  When I came out they both seemed fine.  We do have plans to fix Daisy and the male dog within the next few weeks.  Will this help or does Daisy need to be in a home without other dogs?  Is this typical behavior for a jack russell?

Answer
Hello Tracy,

It definitely sounds like a case of jealousy to me. Spaying and neutering will definitely make the situation better, but isn't always the cure all. Aggression of this type can quickly escalate and one of your dogs could bet seriously injured. I wouldn't let them in the same room with eachother without muzzles on. There is no easy answer here unfortunately. I would suggest a professional dog trainer to come in and evaluate the situation and try working with the dogs; keep in mind thought, there are some dogs that just DO NOT get along with others. Try the spaying and the trainer first and see how that goes, and if not successful, you may have to place her in a home without other dogs.
Best of luck to you all
