Question
I have notice that most Jack Russell have there ears flop forward. I wanted to know, because our dog always has them up or back. Her name is Deja, and she is 21 weeks old. Thank you for your time, Fernando.

Answer
Hello, Some JRT's ears never have that up/down front pointed tip, these dogs would never be eligable in the show ring as the drooped/fold ear is strived for. I have seen many JRT's with fully pointed ears like chihuahua or shepard ears. My own jack russell terrier keep his to the side and makes him look like a genuine mutt thou he is purebred, he will perk his ears to the breed standard style when he sees a cat/toy he wants or treat or is waiting for me to throw his frisbee. Its nothing to worry about thou dogs with upward pointing ears may have dirtier ears from them being up while the dog is playing or rolling around on the ground. But to anwser your questions the Jack Russell Terrier's ears are ment to point forward but be floppy to give a intelegent look. check out www.dogbreedinfo.org and look under purebred for the JRT and you will find more info and lots of pictures.
