Question
Hi there, please could you give me some information about my 16 year old jack russell, for the past few weeks she has been having funny turns, I dont know if it is fits but she seems to be dizzy and her back legs go from underneath her she stays like this for a few minutes and then is fine, it seems to be more apparent after she has eaten, I have also noticed her back legs seem to be bending alot not straight like they used to be.  She is an extremely small jack russell and is just bones so its not a weight issue she only weighs 2kilos.  Please could you help.,  many thanks

Answer
Hello Alison,
I'm sorry your dog isn't feeling well -
It's really difficult to "diagnose" something over the internet without seeing her, but it sounds like it could be some sort of  seizure. I think her condition is definitely age related as she is quite old now, but just to be sure you may want to have her seen by your veterinarian. There are hundreds of reasons dogs have seizures, some of them medical, some of them chemical (she hasn't been eating any antifreeze has she?). Some can be treated, others can't and it really depends on WHY they are happening. I think it just may be that your little girl is getting up there in years.
Here is a website for you to read all about the different kinds and reasons for canine seizures. I hope this information will help you, and I wish you the very best of luck with your your dog. She sounds very very sweet.
