Question
QUESTION: We have tried to find a non irritating collar for our Jack.  In the "Dog Trials' we noticed that most Jacks were wearing a wide collar, most of them padded.  Where can I find this kind of collar.  Syd, our Jack, has lost most of the hair at the bast of his throat, and the half choke collar we have on him now, changes his white hair dirty black.  I would actually like to find a properly fitted harness, but again with his long body, our local mpet stores are at a loss to find one that fits and is not irritating to under his front legs.
ANSWER: Hello Fran,
I'm sorry it took so long to get back to you but we were away for the weekend.
I know exactly what you are talking about!
They are called HOUND COLLARS because they were originally worn by greyhounds but they are great for all dogs!
I know you can buy them on eBay, there are quite a lot of them listed on there. If you search "ebay STORES" for 'SIGHTHOUND SPECIALTIES" (that's the name of the eBay store) - they have a huge supply, all different sizes and colors. Good luck to you!!
Take care,
Carol

QUESTION: Do you have any ideas on a harness? Again he is so long that the harnesses I find, bite him under the front legs?

Answer
There is a website that I use, it's called
www.fordogtrainers.com
They have nice harnesses that can be adjusted and they have wider straps than the ones you find in stores. The under straps can be moved further down the body so they aren't rubbing up under the dogs arms.
Cesar Milan also sells his "new" ILLUSION collar which supposedly keeps your dog from pulling. I've never tried it but it is getting good reviews. You can check it out at dogpsychologycenter.com and click on collars.
Hope this helps!
