Hind leg problem

Question
Hi
I have two Jack Russells but the oldest one (now 15yrs) has suddenly started walking as if there is a problem with his hind quarters and legs, walking with his hind quarters very low and sometimes collapsing onto the floor. He is not making any noises as if in pain and is trying to walk around the back garden. Can you help please?

Answer
Hello Audrey,

I'm so sorry your jack is having some walking problems. At his age (112 in people years!!!) it's to be expected that things will slowly start to deteriorate, I'm sorry :(
Unfortunately because of his age, there are so many different things he could be experiencing. At first guess I would suspect progressive arthritis but to be sure you should have him examined by your veterinarian. There are some medications available that can make him much more comfortable. You should be proud that you provided such an amazing and wonderful long life for him.  I wish you all the very best!
