Daisy might be pregnant

Question
I have a female Jack who is over a year old and I noticed she started her heat cycle exactly 2 weeks ago today. I volunteered to watch a friends male jack from last Sunday until last Thursday  He did get "tangled" with her hopefully one time that I know of  He is not fixed and he managed to get her diaper off. They are very sneaky. I want to know why my other male dogs are still going nuts over her today. One got ahold of her twice and the other once. They both are fixed. Does this mean shes not pregnant because shes still putting off that smell or does it not matter at all?  Thanks for the help  Dara

Answer
Hi Dara,
It only takes one time! I'm not quite sure what you mean by "tangled". If they were stuck together (it's called a "tie") then the possibility of pregnancy is very great.
The drive for males to mate when a female is in heat is one of the strongest pulls ever! Some males jump through glass doors to get to the female. A diaper is not a safe way to keep a male away from a female who is in heat. They should be completely separated in crates or even in different rooms.
It's normal for neutered males to still be attracted to females in heat. They can even mount them and penetrate the vagina, but no pregnancy will occur because there are no testicles to send sperm into her. It's all hormone related. They will all be interested in her until her estrus cycle is over.
Good luck
