Parson Russel and hiding food

20 9:29:11

Question
We've had our parson for about a year now and we are mystified that she hides "treats" such as crackers, and dog treats. We've even found them in our bed hid under the covers. Is this normal? Also our parson hates other dogs, we've grown to accept that and are trying to socialize her, but we wonder whether it would be a good idea to get a second small dog for her to have companionship.

Thank you in advance.

Answer
Hello Dave,
Hiding the food is perfectly normal - it's actually kind of funny (as long as you don't mind crumbs under your pillow)! "Hating" other dogs is not good at all. It takes work, but it can be changed. Try to watch The Dog Whisperer on TV on the National Geographic channel and you will see the amazing work that can be done with aggressive dogs. It usually is on Friday nights at 8:00pm EST -  You can also buy DVD's to help through the Dog Whisperer website by typing in The Dog Psychology Center Cesar Milan.
I would NOT get another dog in the home until the aggression problem is solved. It is a good idea LATER to get her a companion but she needs to be trained first.
Best of luck!!
