QuestionI have a female jack Russell terrier that is not fixed and when we tried to re-home her she was around two non-fixed male dogs. The guy we re-homed her to tried to sell her 2 days later! When i found out,I went and picked her up. She would have had sex between Feb. 27 and March 2.This would have been her first time having sex and since we brought her home she has been mellow. She was also in heat when she went but doesn't seem to be bleeding anymore. Please help me!Thank you, Helena
AnswerHello Helena,
The only positive way to tell is by bringing her in to have either a blood test or a vaginal smear at the vets office. Otherwise, you'll have to wait until she starts growing and showing, in about 4 to 5 weeks. Sounds like that guy was a jerk to breed her and then try to sell her, poor thing. The pregnancies can be terminated but you'll have to go the veterinarian right away - they can administer a "day after" medication. Having puppies is an ENORMOUS job, expensive and difficult. Good luck with her.
