My jack russell is alomst 4 months old, and his ears do not flop forward they go backwards off to the side is this normal or should I get it checked out????

Hello Kala,
There really isn't anything to get checked out. Ear style is inherited and individual. Unless you have a "show" quality dog and paid a premium for perfection as demanded by the JRTCA, ear types come in all shapes, size and type. I have Jacks with pricked up ears, and Jacks with folded over ears, and one that has her ears out to the side. It's really all a matter of preference. Your dog is absolutely normal and just has ears that go off to the side. They will still do a little changing as he gets older but don't worry, there is nothing wrong with him. He sounds beautiful, enjoy your new pup!
