Question
QUESTION: I am waiting for my puppy,He is 3weeks old at the moment
and a cross between a Siberian Husky and a border collie.
What kind of dog will I be getting? Is this a good dog
(especially for me, as i am staying in the african bush)??
I actually need to know everything i can, that I will be
able to take best care of this dog.

ANSWER: You are probably best asking the breeder what type of temperment this pup wil have. What I do know of Border Collies... this is possable not a very good mix. Border Collies are know for being nervous high strung dogs, and Siberians are known to get bored eisly and have a short attention span. But I do not know the puppies parents, and I do not know what kind of temperments that they have. But because of this mix I would highly suspect that this dog will wander, probably run pretty far. Will have to be kenneled, and given a fenced in area when off leash. Hopefully he will be kept indoors to keep a good eye on him.

This again is really a question you should be directing at the owner of the parents since they are, hopfully, very knowledagable about the parents that are invoulved in the creation of the puppy. Any one who has bred a litter and has a good reason for it, or at least are concerned with the welfare of the puppies they are reasonsable for creating will know the answers that you are looking for.

QUESTION: The environment this dog is going to be living in - is a
game reserve with big 5 animals and alot of predators. Its
not fenced and more than 75000hectares of roaming space. As
huskies and collies like running and preying on smaller
animals - will this be a bad choice for having a dog like
this in a area i am staying in???

Answer
Unless you want to keep the dog on a leash at all times. I have a feeling the dog will run off and get eaten somewhere. Because their is a strong will the run and a strong will to herd (chase animals) I wouldn't recommend this environment. Look for a lab, Retriever or German Shepherd. Not a Siberian or Collie or even mixes of these (Collies are bred to work independently away from their owner some herd sheep days at a time without seeing their owner). They generally stick in the vicinity of their owner.
