Is NuVet safe for large breed puppies?

19 17:57:34

Question
My breeder recommended NuVet Plus for my lab puppy. In fact, I was told that the health guarantee she gives requires him to be on it. I didn't think much about it at first, but the other day I saw it had Calcium and Phosphorus in it. Everything you read says a large breed puppy should not have above certain levels of either or they could run into skeletal issues as they grow. I also read that you should never supplement a large breed puppy with something that contains Calcium and Phosphorus because of those reasons - especially if you are already using a well balanced dog food, which I am.

With that in mind, back to my question, is it really safe for all these people (breeders, pet owners and the company itself) to keep recommending NuVet Plus to large breed puppies?

Thanks,

--Mike

Answer
Hi Mike,  That is a good question!  Good that your are doing your home-work on this new pup.
The amount of Calc and Phos in the NuVET is very low and would not hurt your large breed pup at all.   I have seen 1000s of large breed pups do excellent with the NuVET supplement.

I can understand your concern about the ingredients.
If you have any more question, please call in to the NuVET office and ask to talk with Matt on this concern.  They would be very happy to help.
Tell them Pet Nurse Marie told you to call for Matt.
