Question
I have had my GR since he was 8 weeks old and he was housebroken about  2 weeks after.   We have been attending puppy class and now obiedence class since he was 4 months and he has done very well.  Since he has turned a year old he has regressed into bad behavior like chewing shoes and going to the bathroom in the house.  Is it common for dogs to regress?  Any ideas?

Answer
THis is a problem for some.(luckily not for my 1year old.) Usually after dogs turn 1 year old, they become teenagers. They might get a bit aggressive, dominant, and trying to claim territory by peeing in the house. I think you should consider getting him neutered. Neutering reduces the risk of some cancers, prevents roaming(looking for a girl dog to mate with) and behavior problems. As for the chewing on shoes, my dog likes to chew on socks. You need to put your shoes in a safe spot where he cant get them. If you cant do that or that doesnt work, you can put some listerine on the part of the shoe where he bites. THis probably will taste bad to him and he will stop. If listerine doesnt work, by bitter spray. you can find bitter spray at pet stores like PETSMART. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask.
