Should I get a crate

Question
Tammy, my 12 week old Golden Retriever puppy is recently joinded my house hold.  She sleeps in the landry in a the bottom half of a (uncovered) box which is setup with a blacket etc.  She seems to enjoy it.

I had a couple of small dogs, (Papions) belonging to a friend staying with me for a while (3 years). These two dogs had a "create" which they splept in. They would also take refuge in the create when ever they felt startled or frightened and relly enjoyed it as a place to "get away".

Should I get a similar (larger) create for my Golden or is a dog basket better for a large dog? (Any othre tips on her bed would be appreciated.)

Thanks
Graeme

Answer
Crates are the ONLY way to go.  I would get one big enough for her that she will be able to go into when she's full grown. (large would do it). Puppies won't potty where they sleep, so try to block off most of it, all she needs is enough room to get up, turn around and lay back down.  As she grows, then make the room bigger.  She will find this very comforting as she grows.  Keep the cage door open when she's NOT in there, you will look over one day and find her sleeping in it!  lol
