American Bulldog skin care

Question
I have a 4 1/2 month old American bulldog; solid white and blue-eyed.  She is almost "pink" through the white coat.  I've heard skin problems are prevalent with her breed.  Any advice, such as additives for her food, oils, lotions, anything that might help protect her skin?  She's a beautiful puppy and I'd like to start out on the right foot with what seems to be an issue for the breed.  Thanks you.

Answer
If you don't have an "issue" now, you probably won't. If you intend to breed this dog, you may at some point develop skin problems due to drain on nutrition when she's raising puppies.

However, if you feed a quality food and keep her free of parasites (fleas/worms) you should do just fine. Try to stay away from chicken based products if possible. Eukanuba is probably the best food on the market today.

Spaying the puppy is a good way to eliminate many problems in the future. Frankly, I'm amazed that she has good hearing.  Many pure white, blue eyed dogs are deaf.  This would be another thing to seriously consider if you plan on breeding her.
