paw licking

Question
My 11 month old bulldog has been licking/biting his paws nonstop for the
last 3 days. I've been giving him 2 benadryls 2x a day and washing his paws
down. We have him on a special Science Diet because of food allergies. I've
also sprayed his paw with bitter apple but nothing seems to be working. Do
you have any idea how I can stop him from licking/biting his paw raw? Thank
you.

Answer
This behavior is almost always associated with food allergies or boredom, or both.  Get rid of the Science Diet and go to a more natural food like Ennova or Wellness or Nutri Source. Benadryl is of no use in this situation.  Pick a food and give it at least two weeks. If you see any improvement, stick with it. If it gets worse, change to another food. You may have to go through 2 or 3 before you find one that works.

You can also try giving the dog toys to occupy it's time.
